Jamdani saree weaving technique originated in Bangla speaking Eastern region of the Indian subcontinent. From its roots in Dacca, it spread to Bengal region along with migration of weavers across borders. Thereafter to Telangana as well. It is a labour intensive and time consuming form of handloom weaving. Muslin, Linen, Khadi, Matka and Tussar Silks are mainly used for Jamdani work.
